  • Silver nanoparticles colloid has been prepared by heat-combined electrochemical method, which uses simple and low-cost equipment of easy installation and operation, is easily deployed in industrial scale. A silver plate was used as the cathode instead of silver salts to avoid unexpected ions from the salts. The cathode was made from a stainless steel plate. The chemical used as the electrolyte solution is TriSodium Citrate (TSC). Silver nanoparticles made by the above method are spherical, small-sized, its size distribution ranges from 3-12nm, stably dispersing in a non-toxic solution.   • ZnS quantum dots (QDs) are prepared by ultrasonic-assisted chemical precipitation method with the presence of different concentration Trisodium citrate (TSC). The TSC molecules play very important role in inhibiting the growth of the ZnS particles. The mean size of the ZnS crystals which is estimated from the X-ray diffractions decreases from 1.7 nm to 1.4 nm when the added amount of the TSC increases. The lattice constant of the particles decreases from 5.40 Å to 5.38 Å and the band gap of the material increases from 3.92 eV to 4.74 eV.   • Sphere-like gold nanoparticles have been prepared by chemical reduction method and by using X-ray irradiation, while rod-like gold nanoparticles were synthesized according to the seed-mediated growth method and by sonoelectrochemistry. Sphere-like gold nanoparticles have diameter of 20 - 60 nm, while rod-like gold nanoparticles have aspect ratio from 2 to 4. In UV-vis spectra the absorption bands related to surface piasmon resonance were observed.   • ZnS:Mn- Fe3O4 bifunctional nanoparticles were synthesized by inverse microemulsion method for biomedicine applications. The bifunctional nanoparticles were combined from prepared ZnS:Mn and Fe3O4 nanoparticles in a SiO2 cover matrix. Results show that bifunctional nanoparticles, apart from exhibiting magnetism, have photoluminescence properties, which support the applications targeting biomedicine fluorescent diagnostics as well as magnetic cell sorting or drug delivery.

  • In this paper, Fe3O4-ZnO heterostructure multifunctional nanoparticles (NPs) were successfully prepared in aqueous solution by ultrasound assisted thermolysis. First, iron oxide (Fe3O4) magnetic NPs were prepared by co-precipitation method. The Fe3O4 NPs were modified by 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) to have free amine (-NH2) groups on their surface, then, Zn2+ ions were added and stirred to adsorb onto the surface of Fe3O4-NH2 NPs in alkaline solution at a pH of 11.   • The proportional relationship between the infrared (IR) transmittance of a transparent material and its IR-induced heat transfer can be explained via a simple model. The agreement between theory and the experimental work was examined by measuring the temperature rising inside a heat-insulated box with glass windows under IR irradiation, where the material of the glass windows was modified from corning glass (CG) to 9 at% Nb-doped TiO2 (TNO) fabricated by sputtering deposition.
