  • The roots of Aconitum Carmichaeli Debx. is recognized as a medicinal plant by its anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Our phytochemical investigation of the roots led to the isolation of three alkaloids including delcosine (1), fuziline (2), and karacoline (3).   • Abstract A novel air-flow generator based on the effect of ion wind has been developed by the simultaneous generation of both positive and negative ions using two electrodes of opposite polarity placed in parallel. Unlike the conventional unipolar-generators, this bipolar configuration creates an ion wind, which moves away from both electrodes and yields a very low net charge on the device. The electro-hydrodynamic behaviour of air-flow has been experimentally and numerically studied.   • The etiology and pathophysiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which is a multifactorial disorder, remain poorly understood. Curcuma longa extract has been demonstrated to exhibit anti-inflammatory activity in the literature. Here, we examined the effect of C. longa extract on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis over a period of 7 days. The extract (150 mg/kg/b.w.) was mixed with the diet of the mice.   • Two flavonol glycosides: 5,7,3 ' -trimethoxyquercetin -3-O-β-D-fructofuranoside (1), 7,4′-O-dimethylluteolin 5-O-[α-L-arabinofuranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside] (2) and one fatty acid ester (Z)-3-hydroxypentan-2-yl-10-aminooctacos-9-enoate (3) were isolated from the leaves of Aconitum carmichaeli Debx growing in Ha Giang province, Vietnam.   • Type 2 diabetes is a fairly common chronic disease. α-glucosidase and protein tyrosine phosphatase, as enzymes, play an important role in type 2 diabetes. This study evaluates the inhibitory effect of the two enzymes in vitro of ethanol extract and fractions of Vietnam Psidium guajava’s leaves. The leaves were collected, dried and extracted with 96% ethanol and successively fractionated with n-hexane, ethyl acetate and butanol solvents.   • Objective: To investigate the protective potential of ethanolic extracts of Tetracera scandens L. ( T. scandens ) against CCl induced oxidative stress in liver tissues. Methods: Dried leaf powder of T. scandens was extracted with ethanol and concentrated to yield a dry residue. Rats were administered with 100 mg/kg of ethanolic extracts orally once daily for one week.   • This paper presents the design, fabrication and operation of a highly symmetrical two-axis capacitive sensor. The proposed sensor consists of five electrodes, including of an excitation electrode and two pairs of sensing electrodes with exactly the same dimensions, arranged at identified symmetrically locations on a 3D printed hollow sphere, which containing dielectric medium formed by the partly filled oil and the remaining air.
