  • The etiology and pathophysiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which is a multifactorial disorder, remain poorly understood. Curcuma longa extract has been demonstrated to exhibit anti-inflammatory activity in the literature. Here, we examined the effect of C. longa extract on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis over a period of 7 days. The extract (150 mg/kg/b.w.) was mixed with the diet of the mice.   • Tetracera scandens L. (Dilleniaceae) is a genus of flowering plants of the Dilleniaceae family. It has been reported that Tetracera scandens L. content hight amout of flavonoids. From the ethanol extract of leaves of Tetracera scandens L, we have been isolated six known flavonoids compounds.   • Type 2 diabetes is a fairly common chronic disease. α-glucosidase and protein tyrosine phosphatase, as enzymes, play an important role in type 2 diabetes. This study evaluates the inhibitory effect of the two enzymes in vitro of ethanol extract and fractions of Vietnam Psidium guajava’s leaves. The leaves were collected, dried and extracted with 96% ethanol and successively fractionated with n-hexane, ethyl acetate and butanol solvents. The results show that the EtOH extract, n-nexan, EtOAc and BuOH fractions had high α-glucosidase inhibitory effect with IC50 values of 2.20; 2.53; 2.24 and 2.16 µg/mL, respectively.   • A conclusive study of inclusion in schist-type emeralds from some famous deposits in the world is introduced. The deposists includes Santa Terezinha, Socoto, Capoeirana, Itabira (Brazil), Mananrary (Madagascar), Transwaal (South Africa), Ural (Russia). The typical inclusions for emerald of these localities are quartz, mica, amphibole, fluid inclusions. Particular and unique features of inclusion could provide information of geographic orgirin. Itabira emerald is featurelized with the abundance o f multi-phase inclusions containing two liquids, developed in well-formed negative crystals; more or less square, rectangular cavities.
