  • This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the transference of English and Vietnamese influences on students’ writing passive sentences in written tests. Passive voice is a kind of grammar pattern which is widely used in both writing and every day conversations especially in English. However, passive voice in English is not totally the same as the one in English. Some Vietnamese students often use them in the same way in both two languages due to their habits. They often make mistakes.
