  • Dy3+ -doped K2GdF5 single crystals were synthesized under hydrothermal condition. The UV excitation spectra and lifetimes of K2GdF5:Dy3+ were measured at room temperature. The excitation spectra have shown charge transfer state (CTS) of Dy3+ and energy transfer from Gd3+ to Dy3+ ions in K2GdF5:Dy3+ crystal. The decay curve of the K2GdF5 sample doped with 5.0 mol % Dy3+ ions is a non – exponential curve and is well fitted to the Inokuti – Hirayama model for S = 6. The energy transfer parameters (Q, CDA) and the critical distance (R0) are calculated.

  • Alkali borotellurite glass (ABTe) doped with concentration of 0.5 mol% Sm3+ ions was prepared by melting method. The absorption, luminescence spectra and lifetime of ABTe:Sm3+ have been measured at room temperature. The results were analyzed using Judd–Ofelt (JO) theory, that gives the Ωλ intensity parameters, transition probabilities (AR), calculated branching ratios (βR), measured branching ratios (βmes) and stimulated emission cross-sections (σλp) for 4G5/2→6HJHHJ transitions.

  • Dy3+-doped glasses with various compositions (30+x)B2O3+ (60-x)TeO2 + 9Na2O + 1Dy2O3 (x = 10 and 20) were prepared by a melt–quenching technique. The specifically structural properties of boro-tellurite glasses with the high borate content (> 30 mol%) was reflected in the unusually large values of the Judd-Ofelt parameters Ω2 and Ω6 . The CIE chromaticity color coordinates were calculated from the luminescence spectra of Dy3+ ions of the glasses with the different compositions and all of them were located in the white light zone of the color coordination diagram.

  • Samarium doped B2O3-Na2O-Li2O (BNaLi) [u1] glasses with concentration of 0.5 mol% were prepared by the conventional melting procedure. Optical absorption, excitation, luminescence spectra and lifetime have been measured at room temperature. Judd – Ofelt (JO) theory is used to study the spectral properties and to calculate the radiative transition probabilities. The predicted[u2] branching ratios (βR), radiative lifetime (ιR) and stimulated emission cross-sections [u3] (σ(λp)) of the 4G5/2 excited level are reported.

  • Double potassium gadolinium fluoride crystal doped with 5.0 mol % of Dy3+ ions (K2GdF5:Dy3+) was synthesized under hydrothermal condition. The absorption, luminescence spectra and lifetime of K2GdF5:Dy3+ sample were measured at room temperature. Judd – Ofelt (JO) theory is used to study the spectral properties and to calculate the radiative transition probabilities. The prediced branching ratios (βR), radiative lifetime (ιR), integrated emission cross – section (Σif) and stimulated emission cross – sections (σ(λp)) of the 4F9/2 excited level are reported.[u1]
