  • Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the world. Cardiovascular risk assessment is an important step in preventing and treating the disease. The current study assesses the 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease in 306 VNU’s office workers in 2016-2017 based on the 2008 Framingham Risk Score. The study results show that the average risk score was 4.05 ± 4.76%; low risk was 90.52%; moderate risk: 7.85 %; and high to very high risk was 1.63%. Men have a higher risk score than women (p <0.001).   • This descriptive study describes the clinical, paraclinical characteristics in children with renal tubular acidosis. In this study, 36 children with renal tubular acidosis were hospitalized in the National Hospital of Pediatrics from June, 2012 to July, 2017. Among the patients, 64.0% were male; the male/female ratio was 1.8/1. The average age of the patients was 7.7 ± 4.6 years. There were 29 type 1 renal tubular acidosis patients (80.6%) and 7 type 2 renal tubular acidosis (19.6%).   • This descriptive study describes clinical and subclinical symptoms of neonatal pneumonia and evaluates the results of its treatment in Bac Ninh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital. In this study, 200 children diagnosed with neonatal pneumonia were treated in the hospital from May 1, 2018 to May 1, 2019. Among the patients, 57.0% were male; the male/female ratio was 1.33. There were 67/200 (33.5%) patients aged 0-7 days with 13.5% of whom were preterm neonates.   • The metabolism of Isoniazid, one of the first-line antituberculosis drugs for TB treatment and prophylaxis, depends on the acetyltransferase 2 acetylation (NAT2) phenotype. Different phenotypes of NAT2 will lead to differences in drug concentration and the risk of uncontrolled side effects, such as hepatitis, peripheral neuropathy, gastrointestinal disorders (nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain).   • Panax bipinnatifidus Seem. is a precious medicinal plant belonging to the Araliaceae family. This study qualitatively analyzed saponins of the stem, leaf and rhizome of P. bipinnatifidus by HPLC. Subsequently, by using chromatographic techniques, a major saponin from the leaf of P.bipinnatifidius Seem. was isolated. On the basis of NMR and MS spectroscopic data as well as comparison with those reported in the literature, the isolated saponin’s structure was identified as stipuleanoside R2.   • Drug resistant TB is currently a global challenge causing high risk of death and expanding the disease. This study explores the prevalence of drug resistance in newly diagnosed and recurrent TB patients and identifies the association between NAT2 gene polymorphism distribution and acetylator phenotype of NAT2 gene and the two study groups.   • Sustained-release matrix tablets containing rotundin sulfat are prepared by a wet granulation method. The influence of Metholose 100.000 RS, 4000 SR, Avicel PH101, lactose and tablet compression force on the ability to release rotundin from the tablets has been evaluated. Modde 8.0 software was used in the experiment. The influencing factors were evaluated by software FormRules v2.0 and the optimal formula predicted by the INForm v3.1 was optimized. The selected optimal formulation of rotundin sulfate tablets for a drug release process lasting 8 hours contained Metholose 100.000 RS 120 mg; Avicel PH101 24.0 mg; lactose 34.5 mg; and 8 kP tablet hardness.

  • This study aimes to analyse the usage of type 2 diabetes medication for outpatients at the Ministry of Public Security Traditional Medicine Hospital and to rate their adherence to the treatment. In this study, Type 2 diabetic patients were treated as outpatients and managed for at least 12 months at the clinic of the hospital.   • Type 2 diabetes is a fairly common chronic disease. α-glucosidase and protein tyrosine phosphatase, as enzymes, play an important role in type 2 diabetes. This study evaluates the inhibitory effect of the two enzymes in vitro of ethanol extract and fractions of Vietnam Psidium guajava’s leaves. The leaves were collected, dried and extracted with 96% ethanol and successively fractionated with n-hexane, ethyl acetate and butanol solvents.   • Drug resistant TB is currently a global challenge causing high risk of death and expanding the disease. This study explores the prevalence of drug resistance in newly diagnosed and recurrent TB patients and identifies the association between NAT2 gene polymorphism distribution and acetylator phenotype of NAT2 gene and the two study groups.   • Sustained-release matrix tablets containing rotundin sulfat are prepared by a wet granulation method. The influence of Metholose 100.000 RS, 4000 SR, Avicel PH101, lactose and tablet compression force on the ability to release rotundin from the tablets has been evaluated. Modde 8.0 software was used in the experiment. The influencing factors were evaluated by software FormRules v2.0 and the optimal formula predicted by the INForm v3.1 was optimized. The selected optimal formulation of rotundin sulfate tablets for a drug release process lasting 8 hours contained Metholose 100.000 RS 120 mg; Avicel PH101 24.0 mg; lactose 34.5 mg; and 8 kP tablet hardness.

  • This study aimes to analyse the usage of type 2 diabetes medication for outpatients at the Ministry of Public Security Traditional Medicine Hospital and to rate their adherence to the treatment. In this study, Type 2 diabetic patients were treated as outpatients and managed for at least 12 months at the clinic of the hospital.   • Type 2 diabetes is a fairly common chronic disease. α-glucosidase and protein tyrosine phosphatase, as enzymes, play an important role in type 2 diabetes. This study evaluates the inhibitory effect of the two enzymes in vitro of ethanol extract and fractions of Vietnam Psidium guajava’s leaves. The leaves were collected, dried and extracted with 96% ethanol and successively fractionated with n-hexane, ethyl acetate and butanol solvents.
