Abstract: Skill in reading comprehension plays an important role in poreign language teaching. For more than the past 20 years researches into this skill have been conducted and brought about new outlooks on reading activities, along side with methodological implications. At schools in Vietnam, priority is given to reading conprehension due to learning practices and conditions as well as social demands for foreign languages. But, so far there have been few researches on this field in our country. In this article new modifications in terms of teaching reading methods have been proposed and those proposals have been explicated via currionlum designing, teaching material strands and pedagogical modes, which is aimed at effectively patting those modifications and chonges in practice.
