  • From 53 samples (13 of leaves, 18 of litters and 22 of soils ), which were collected in Phongn ha - Keb ang National Park, 57 yeast strains were isolated. Those yeast strains were identified based on the morphological characteristics and the sequence analysis of D1/D2 domain of 26S rDNA. They belonged to 13 genera and 26 species, of which 5 were suspected as new species. A mong 13 genera , Basidiomycetous yeasts were dominant from isolated samples . Thirty - four strains out of 57 were mainly grouped into 3 genera of Rhodotorula, Sporobolomyces, Candida and 11 species.   • Alcohol fermentation was carried out with sticky rice using 15 most popular sorts of yeast cakes in Vietnam to produce different kinds of alcoholic beverages. The products were obtained by traditional distillation method and compared with each other for flavour and taste according to the standard qualification scale for alcoholic products.   • Three ballistoconidium-forming yeast strains, VY-60; VY-86 and VY-140, isolated from the wilting leaves in Cuc Phuong National Park in Vietnam, were assigned to the genus Bullera Derx based on morphological and chemotaxonomical characteristics. Based on the partial sequence analyses of of 18S rDNA, internal transcribed spacer regions (ITS) and Dl/D2 region of 26S rDNA, they were found to represent a new species. Bullera haininhensis is proposed for this species and VY-86T is chosen as the type strain of the species

  • Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) functions in the mitochondrial respiratory chain and serves as a lipophilic antioxidant. There is an increasing interest in the use of CoQ10 as a nutritional supplement and cosmetic ingredient. It is known that CoQ10 is produced in a wide variety of organisms, from microorganisms such as bacteria and yeasts, to higher animals and plants.
