  • In the present work, we have synthesized the spinel LiMn2O4 cathode materials via a sol-gel method at 750 C for 8 h under optimal conditions at different pH values (3, 6 and 9) and studied the effect of different pH values on the structural, optical, electrical and electrochemical properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis identified the synthesized materials as crystallized in the cubic spinel structure (Fd3m) with slight decrease in the lattice parameters. SEM exhibits the formation of a spongy and fragile network structure in the synthesized samples.   • Graphene-ZnO nanocomposites (G-ZnO) were prepared by a facile solvothermal approach. Well, crystalline ZnO nanoparticles with size in the range of 30-70 nm are uniformly deposited on the graphene sheets, as evidenced by different techniques. The electrochemical properties of the prepared nanocomposites were examined by measuring the specific capacitance in 6 M KOH solution using cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-edischarge techniques. G-ZnO nanocomposites showed a good capacitive behavior with a specific capacitance of 122.4 F/g as compared to graphene oxide (2.13 F/g) and rGO (102.5 F/g) at 5 mV/s scan rate.   • A selective, simple and sensitive electrochemical sensor has been developed using pencil leads (pencil graphite electrode, PGE) for the investigation of chlorpromazine (CPZ). The cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) techniques were employed to study the anodic behaviour of CPZ. The bare PGE showed good electrocatalytic activity towards the determination of CPZ in comparison with alanine and glycine modified PGEs.
