  • A selective, simple and sensitive electrochemical sensor has been developed using pencil leads (pencil graphite electrode, PGE) for the investigation of chlorpromazine (CPZ). The cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) techniques were employed to study the anodic behaviour of CPZ. The bare PGE showed good electrocatalytic activity towards the determination of CPZ in comparison with alanine and glycine modified PGEs. The PGE showed a well enhanced peak current compared to alanine and glycine modified PGEs for the determination of CPZ. The electroactive surface area, influence of pH, effect of scan rate, electron transfer kinetics and sensitivity have been studi...

  • Pseudo-capacitance of silver oxide thin film electrodes in ionic liquid for electrochemical energy applications.pdf.jpg
  • Article

  • Authors: Oje, Alex.I.; Ogwu, A.A.; Mirzaeian, Mojtaba; Tsendzughul, Nathaniel; Oje, A.M. (2019)

  • The energy storage potential of silver oxide (Ag2O) thin film electrodes, deposited via radio frequency reactive magnetron sputtering, was investigated in an ionic electrolyte (1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide for supercapacitor applications. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) tools were used to evaluate the structural and oxide phases present in the sputtered silver oxide thin film electrodes. The growth mode, morphology, surface area, wettability and surface energy of the deposited nano-structure silver oxide thin films were confirmed by scanning electron ...

  • The electrochemical behavior, antifungal and cytotoxic activities of phytofabricated MgO nanoparticles using Withania somnifera leaf extract.pdf.jpg
  • Article

  • Authors: Raveesha, H.R.; Nayana, S.; Vasudha, D.R.; Begum, J.P. Shabaaz; Pratibha, S.; Ravikumara, C.R.; Dhananjaya, N. (2019)

  • Magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgO NPs) without and with Ca, Eu dopant were synthesized by using the W. somnifera leaf extract through the low temperature green combustion method. The detailed analytical characterizations such as Powder X-Ray Diffraction (PXRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Fourier Transform-infrared Spectra (FTIR), etc. have been carried out for the obtained NPs. The PXRD patterns confirmed the formation of the Periclase structure with the cubic phase whereas the SEM and TEM results revealed the agglomerated roughly spherical granular structures of about 50e70 nm in size. FTIR spectr...
