  • Air pollution is considered as a spot-on phenomenon amongst many problems that urban areas are facing with. In Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, this is also unavoidable. Furthermore, climate change and its side-effects are in-turn worsen the atmospheric environment. Therefore, understanding the impacts and the relationship between air pollution and climate change is critical to the air quality management in Hanoi and its effort of striving for sustainable development down the road. To analyze the condition of air pollution in Hanoi precisely, I have collected information at national and local level (Hanoi) in dealing with the air pollution. Those are represented by lots of ...

Effect of halide anions on structure of 1-butanol monolayer/water interface probed by sum-frequency vibrational spectroscopy. VNU Journal of Science, Mathematics- Physics, 33, 1, 8-13. (2017)

  • In this report, we use a sum-frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy to measure SFG spectra from 1-Butanol monolayers on pure water and halide saline solution interfaces. These spectra indicate that halide anions have different effects on the structure of 1-Butanol monolayer/water interfaces. The obtained SFG spectra suggest that the I¯ anions mostly disturb the interfacial structure due to their largest surface propensity among those investigated.

  • Magnetoresistive performances in exchange-biased spin valves and their roles in low-field magnetic sensing applications.pdf.jpg

  • The magnetoresistive properties of pinned spin valves (SV) and their roles in low-field sensing applications were characterized. The magnetoresistive parameters were extracted, including the exchange bias (Heb) field as a function of the iron content in the CoFe layer and the antiferromagnetic (AFM) thickness, the magnetoresistance (MR) ratio versus the spacer thickness, the coercivity (Hc) as a function of the seed layer, and the composite layer [NiFe/Co] used. These parameters are crucial in determining the features of the magnetic sensors. Eventually, the selected SV film structure of (Si/ SiO2)/Ta(50 Å)/[NiFe(30 Å)/Co(15 Å)]/Cu(24 Å)/Co80Fe20(25 Å)/IrMn(100 Å)/Ta(50 Å) was f...

  • We report ow studies of random laser from ZnO powder at room temperature. The powder of ZnO colloidal spheres was synthesized by hydrolysis of Zinc acetate dehydrate. The random lasing around 380nm was produced from a layer of the ZnO powder pumped by the third harmonics (:SSnm) of a picosecond mode locked Nd:YAG laser (1L2143B-- Ekspla). Above a pump threshold, discrete lasing modes of random laser action with resonant feedback appeared in the emission speckum. Our experimental results show that random lasing can be produced from a layer of ZnO spherical nanoparticle powder on glass substrate.

  • Sharp Asymmetric Resonance Based on 4x4 Multimode interference coupler.pdf.jpg

  • We propose a method for generating the tunable Fano resonance line sharp by using only one 4x4 multimode interference (MMI) coupler. We show that our new device structure acting an interferometer and we employ a microring resonator and phase shifter to control the shape. The analytical analysis and FDTD simulations have been used for the first order design. The device has advantages of compactness, high tolerance fabrication and ease of fabrication on the same chip.

  • This paper identifies how social capital in kinship relations is employed to foster children’s education in the Reform era (Đổi mới), based on an anthropological and sociological study in Quỳnh Đôi village, Quỳnh Lưu district, Nghệ An province, Vietnam. The paper shows that in the Đổi mới period, with the state policy of ‘socialization of education’, many social forces have contributed to educational affairs. In rural areas in northern Vietnam, kinship institutions such as patrilineage groups have played an important role in supporting children’s education through “study encouragement funds” [quỹ khuyến học]. From a social capital perspective, we argue that social capital, understood ...

  • In this report, we studied the effect of halide salt concentration on Arachidic Acid (AA) Langmuir monolayers formed on salt solutions, such as NaCl, NaI, NaF by using a Sum-Frequency Generation Vibrational Spectroscopy. In the SFG spectra, we observed the peak intensities of CH3FR and CH3SS vibrational modes decreased when increasing the salt concentration. This observation indicates that the structure of the AA monolayer was disordered by the interaction of the dissolved ions with the carboxyl head groups of the monolayer.
