  • The aim of this study is to develop a kit for the extraction of DNA from formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissues using silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles Fe3O4@SiO2 (MagSi nano) and suitable buffers. We selected the best version of synthesized MagSi nano (code M1) and optimised buffers including Lysis Buffer (code LB2) and Binding Buffer (code BB2) for extracting DNA from FFPE tissues with highest DNA recovery (84 - 103 ng/ml) and good purity (A260/A280 around 1.8 - 2.0).   • Nb-doped Ti thin films were fabricated by co-sputtering of TiO2 doped 6 at% by Nb2O5 and Nb targets. The anatase polycrystalline thin films were obtained by post-annealing at 350oC in vacuum atmosphere. The electrical properties of the films were determined by the Hall method using standard clove-leaf geometry. When the Nb concentration increased, the number of electron increased from 4×1018 cm-3 to 2.4×1020 cm-3, while the resistivity fell down from 10 to 3.5×10-3 Ωcm. It means that this co-sputtering process can be considered as a method to improve conducting properties of Nb:Ti thin films.   • Ultrathin silicon nitride SiNx membrane suspended on a silicon wafer is a popular twodimensional platform in MEMS applications. The unsupported membrane has a low thermal conductivity, is electrically insulated, and very robust against mechanical impact. Remarkably thin, it is difficult to fabricate and manipulate. Recently equipped with a dual chamber system for plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) and reactive ion etching, we calibrate it to deposit silicon nitride Si3N4, silicon dioxide SiO2, and to dry etch these materials.   • In this study, the fast DNA diagnostics was successfully developed using high fluorescent Mn doped ZnS nanoparticles and NH2-modified SiO2 coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles in a sandwich structure. In one end of the sandwich structure, we employed NH2-modified SiO2 coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles as a docking matrix.   • The proportional relationship between the infrared (IR) transmittance of a transparent material and its IR-induced heat transfer can be explained via a simple model. The agreement between theory and the experimental work was examined by measuring the temperature rising inside a heat-insulated box with glass windows under IR irradiation, where the material of the glass windows was modified from corning glass (CG) to 9 at% Nb-doped TiO2 (TNO) fabricated by sputtering deposition.
