  • This paper presents the evaluation of the Thick Target Particle Induced X-rays Emission (TTPIXE) technique using standard samples. The element-dependent standardization factor, H, as a function of X-ray energies is calibrated using standard sample NIST-611 and validated with two standard samples: IAEA-Soil7 and NIES-Pepperbush. The obtained results are in good agreement with the reference data

  • Nowadays, semiconductor detectors, in general, and high purity gemanium detectors (HPGe) in particular are widely used in various fields of experimental nuclear physics. In gamma ray experiments, energy resolution and the efficiency are very important characteristics of detectors. In this paper, the gamma standard sources such as 137Cs, 57Co, 60Co, 54Mn, 133Ba, and 109Cd were used to study the characteristics of the BEGe 3050 detector. The methods of determining the absolute photo- peak efficiency and the dependence of the energy resolution on γ-ray energy are presented.

  • Air pollution is a major problem in many cities in Vietnam. The existence of heavy metals in dust particles in the air impacts negatively on human health. There are many different methods to collect dust in the air and analyse the heavy metals concentration. The method using mosses as a biological indicator for monitoring air pollution has been using widely around the world. This paper presents the preliminary results of using moss for analysis of heavy metals in the air in Hanoi by PIXE technique on Pelletron electrostatic accelerator of the VNU, University of Science (HUS).

  • Radioactive sources which used to study were the standardized radioactive of common monoenergetic radionuclide Cs137 and standardized multigamma Co60, Ba133, Eu152. Determination of the absolute efficiency curve and energy resolution as a function of energy of GEM40P4 HPGe spectrometer are presented in this paper.
