  • The thesis focuses on surveying the classroom use of the new English textbooks at a high school. To achieve the research objectives, the author interviewed 04 English teachers and attended 06 English lessons of grades 10, 11 and 12 at a high school in Hanoi. After collecting the primary data combined with the study and referring to the secondary data, the author found that the new English textbook has many advantages over the old textbook, both in form and content. New textbooks focus more on communication activities, activeness and creativity of students. Its knowledge is also updated and closer to the students' daily lives.   • This paper underscores the dynamic and complex dimensions of my being and becoming an applied linguist. It employs autobiography as an approach to my engagement in self-reflexivity on the professional re-construction of myself. The purpose behind this self-reflective account is to encourage an access to localized ways of knowing, being, and becoming in the world. That access is much needed in language education research in the era in which epistemological understandings are in flux. The paper concludes by discussing how I re-construe my own professional experiences

  • The study was carried out during the crisis of pandemic of Covid-19 when almost all educational institutions were forced to move to online learning. SelfDetermination Theory (SDT) is adopted as the theoretical framework in the thesis. The narrative frame was adopted in the research as a research tool to gain a deep understanding of student engagement and factors affecting their engagement as a multidimensional construct.   • Đề án Ngoại ngữ Quốc gia 2020 đến nay đã bước sang năm thứ 6 (2011-2017) và trong quãng thời gian đó Đề án đã gây ra nhiều tranh luận và nghi ngờ về tính khả thi đối với các mục tiêu đo Đề án đề ra trong cả giới chuyên môn trong và ngoài nước cũng như dư luận xã hội. Với mục đích giúp Bộ Giáo dục và Đào tạo có những điều chỉnh kịp thời trong thời gian còn lại của Đề án, bài viết này phân tích kinh nghiệm thực hiện đổi mới dạy, học, và đánh giá năng lực tiếng Anh của một số nước châu Á trong những năm gần đây. Trên cơ sở kết quả của sự phân tích đó, bài viết đưa ra những khuyến nghị cho việc triển khai Đề án Ngoại ngữ Quốc gia của Việt Nam trong những năm còn lại.
