  • This work investigates the effect of the ratio of the explored Pt area in the electrolyte medium and the photoanode area (REP) on the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). It is found that the power conversion efficiency of DSCs increases by the ascending REP. The highest power conversion efficiency, which was obtained for the cell with the REP of 64/49, was 8.40%. Furthermore, a relationship between the efficiency and fabrication cost is analyzed in terms of reducing or enhancing the surface area of CE compared to the photoanode's surface area. These findings may provide a way for the development of efficient and large-scale DSCs.

  • Effect of crystallization temperature on energy-storage density and efficiency of lead-free Bi0.5(Na0.8K0.2)0.5TiO3 thin films prepared by sol-gel method.pdf.jpg
  • Article

  • Authors: Nguyen, Dang Co; Le, Viet Cuong; Bui, Dinh Tu; Pham, Duc Thang; Luong, Xuan Dien; Vu, Ngoc Hung; Ngo, Duc Quan (2019)

  • Lead-free Bi0.5(Na0.80K0.20)0.5TiO3 (BNKT) ferroelectric films were synthesized on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates via the chemical solution deposition. The influence of the crystallization temperature on the microstructures, the ferroelectric and energy-storage properties of the films was investigated in detail. The results showed that the BNKT films have reached the well crystallized state in the single-phase perovskite structure at 700 C. Ferroelectric and energy-storage properties of the films were significantly enhanced by increasing the crystallization temperature. The remnant polarization (2Pr) and maximum polarization (2Pm) reached the highest values of 18.4 mC/cm2 and 61.2 mC/cm2, ...

  • The impact of the piezoelectric cantilever geometry and resonant mode on the quality factor and mass-sensitivity was investigated. The piezoelectric cantilevers with Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 (PZT) as an active layer were fabricated based on MEMS technology. The PZT thin films were grown on the silicon-on-insulator substrates by pulsed laser deposition. It is shown that the resonant frequency of a defined vibration mode is inversely proportional to the length squared of the piezoelectric cantilever. The experimental results indicate that a shorter cantilever length contributes to a larger quality factor. The cantilever quality factor has values in the range of 190 to 505, dependi...

  • Preparation and Microstructure of Acetate-based Lead-free BSZT Ferroelectric Thin Films Using Sol-gel Technique.pdf.jpg
  • Article

  • Authors: Pham, Thi Nguyet; Nguyen, Thi Minh Phuong; Vu, Thu Hien; Vu, Ngoc Hung (2019)

  • (Ba0.85Sr0.15)(Ti0.9Zr0.1)O3 (BSZT) lead-free ferroelectric thin films at the vicinity of the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) were successfully deposited on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si using a modified spin-coated sol-gel method. Microstructure and electrical properties of the thin film were studied. High resolution synchrotron X–ray powder diffraction (SXRD) combined with Rietveld refinement revealed that the samples were crystalized in tetragonal perovskite structure with in-plane symmetry (c < a). Raman spectra also confirmed a tetragonal perovskite crystalline lattice structure. Polarisation studies demonstrate that BSZT films exhibit a rather high saturation polarisation of 22.25 µC.cm−2. Le...

  • PZT thin films have been grown on Pt/Ti/Si02/Si substrates by the reactive RF-magnetron sputtering deposition method using a multi-element metallic target. The AB03 perovskite structure in the thin films sputtered at a substrate temperature of 250 °c was formed through various intermediate phases by annealing at 650 °c for 1 hour in the air or an oxygen gas ambience. The film compositions were estimated by Electron Probe Micro-Analyzer (EPMA). The surface morphology observed by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) showed a densely packed grain structure with no rosettes structure. The remanent polarization value of the thin film with a thickness of 500 nm was 1.37 nC/cm .
