The thesis is divided into three parts with different aspects. The first part- Introduction– provides an overview of the chosen topic, rationale, aims, scope and methods of the study. The second part includes two chapters. Chapter I is devoted to relevant literary theories and a general introduction to the author, the chosen work and some related definitions. In the main part - chapter II, the topic of the study – Passing and Identity issues reflected in the character of Jay Gatsby in ‘The Great Gatsby’ – is analyzed in detail.
