dc.description.abstractWomen’s perception of love and marriage in literary works has always been a topic of great interest from the researchers. This not only manifests the different stages of women’s perception under different society, but also reflects the core value delivered in each work of art, which genuinely sparkles in The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough. Therefore, this research uses qualitative method to deeply analyse the external determinants to influence the Cleary women’s perception of love and marriage, their self-perception of genuine value of love in a happy marriage, and the symbolism of the thorn birds, which delivers the author’s meaningful messages and extraordinary artistic talent. The study also offers several recommendations for further studies regarding the continuation and development of women’s perception of love and marriage, and related topics on women’s love and their psychological development.vi
