Authors: Le, Trung-Thanh; Nguyen, Linh-Trung (2017) - Big data analytics has become an industry due to the fact that massive datasets have been increasingly
recorded over the last two decades and that they can be smartly mined to discover valuable information.
This opens an emerging topic called “graph signal processing” (GSP) [1] which can be seen as inter-section of graph theory and computational harmonic analysis. GSP is strongly related to frequency analysis in which the windowed Fourier dictionary in general and the Fourier transform in particular not only plays important roles, but also is one of the most ac-cessible techniques. In this work, we are interested in generalizing the STFT to its counterpart in vertex-frequency graph ...

Authors: Nguyen, Ngo Phong; Ngo, Quang Hieu; Ha, Quang Phuc (2017) - Open sea loading/unloading cargo provides a potential solution to minimize problems related with port construction, expansion
and congestion. This process involves a crane attached to a mobile harbor which dynamically handle container from a large container anchored in deep water . The control objective during the operation is to keep the payload in the desired position
under the presence of ocean waves. This paper presents a robust control strategy for trajectory tracking and sway suppression of an offshore container crane. The asymptotic stability of closed- loop system is guaranteed by a control law derived for the purpose. Experimental results are provided to indicate the effici...

Authors: Nguyen, Dinh Luan (2017) - Deformable Part Models and Convolutional Neural Network are state-of-the-art approaches in object detection. While Deformable Part Models makes use of the general structure between parts and root models, Convolutional Neural Network uses all information of input to create meaningful features. These two types of characteristics are necessary for face detection. Inspired by this observation, first, we propose an extension of DPM by adaptively integrating CNN forface detection called DeepFace DPM and propose a new combined model for face representation. Second, a new way of calculating non-maximum suppression is also introduced to boost up detection accuracy. We use Face Detec...

Authors: Le, Trung-Thanh; Nguyen, Linh-Trung; Tran, Thi Thuy Quynh; Karim, Abed-Meraim (2017) - Considering graph signal processing (GSP) as an extended version of classical signal processing, definition of fundamental concepts such as spectral, Fourier transform, generalized operators and so forth for graph setting is highly beneficial and meaningful to get a deep understand of graph signals. In this paper, we concentrate on graph spectral analysis to aim at revealing hidden information of signals (data). In particular, we first define two new operators for GSP including translation and modulation, before introducing a new way to obtain the windowed graph Fourier transform called by namely Short Time Fourier Transform in classical setting. The experiment results indicate...

Authors: Phan, T.-Que Phuong; Pham, Sy-Nguyen; Le, Minh-Vien (2017) - Single–phase perovskite strontium titanate SrTiO3 was synthesized from strontium nitrate and tetra–n–butyl orthotitanate using sol–gel method with various calcined temperature from 600–900 °C. Prepared catalysts were characterized by X–ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflection spectroscopy (UV–DRS). The result showed that SrTiO3, which was synthesized at 700 °C in 6 hours, possessed the efficiency of 59.9 % regarding photocatalytic activity for the 10 ppm methylene blue degradation under visible (λ = 390 ÷ 750 nm). Furthermore, the results indicated that the doping of M (M = Mo, V) into the structure SrTiO3(SrTi1-(x+y)MoxVyO3) in...

Authors: Nguyen, Thang V.; Pham, Hien T. T.; Le, Hai-Chau; Dang, Ngoc T. (2017) - A high-capacity, flexible, cost, and energy efficient backhaul network based on the convergence of optical and wireless technologies is proposed. The proposed backhaul network, which is deployed on wavelength-division multiplexing passive
optical network (WDM-PON), supports three backhauling solutions including pure WDM-PON, hybrid WDMPON/free-space
optics (FSO), and hybrid WDM-PON/millimeterwave (MMW) radio frequency (RF). The numerical results verify the system
performance of each backhaul solution. It is demonstrated that combination of these approaches can exploit PON, FSO and RF technologies to provide a flexible and gigabit-bandwidth-capable solution for the fifth generation ...

Authors: Vu, Minh Q.; Pham, Hien T. T.; Dang, Ngoc T. (2017) - High-altitude platforms (HAPs), which are innovative systems for next-generation wireless communication systems, are being researched and developed rapidly . The HAPs combine the advantages of both satellite communication systems and terrestrial free space optical (FSO) link. In this research, we propose an all-optical two-way relaying space laser communication system for HAP-based broadband backhaul networks to increase the coverage area and to cope with
unexpected disasters which occur between two terminals. We also applied network coding scheme for our proposed system by using an optical XOR gate at HAP to increase security and have the faster speed of processing than an electrica...

Authors: Ho, Xanh; Nguyen, Nhung T.H. (2017) - Approaches for film recommendation systems usually exploit explicit descriptive features to compute ratings. In this paper, we suggest a different approach – to rate films via their related neighbors computed via distributed representation of movies. Specifically, we present Film2Vec, a distributed representation learning for films adapted from the distributed hypothesis from linguistics. We implement our proposed idea using TensorFlow , a Google’s Deep Neural Networks software. The experimental results on Movielens dataset show that Film2Vec can effectively reduce root mean square error (RMSE) in movie recommendation task, suggesting yet another beneficial application of deep learnin...

Authors: Trinh, Hoai An (2017) - Falls are the major reason of serious injury and dangerous accident for elderly people. A recognition system is necessary to recognize falls early for help and treatment. In this research, three subjects were introduced a system of fall recognition with five pairs of human postures (non-fall-fall, fall-stand, fall-sit, fall-bend, fall-lying) using a Kinect camera system. Features of skeletal data with the human postures obtained from Kinect camera are extracted using a PCA algorithm. For fall recognition and sending notification message, a SVM algorithm is applied for training the feature data and classifying these postures....

Authors: Tran, Huu Q.; Truong, Phuc Q.; Phan, Ca V.; Vien, Quoc Tuan (2017) - This paper addresses the problem of wireless backhaul in amulti-tier heterogeneous cellular network coordinated by a cloud-based central station(CCS), namely heterogeneous cloud radio access network (HCRAN). A non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA) is adopted in the power domain for improved spectral efficiency and network through put of the wireless downlink in the HCRAN. We first develop a power allocation for multiple cells of different tiers taking account of the practical power consumption of different cell types and wireless backhaul.
By analyzing the energy efficiency(EE) of the NOMA for the practical HCRAN downlink, we show that the power available at the cloud, the propagation ...

Authors: Nguyen, Tri Duc (2017) - One year after the Snowden Leaks, we are unaware that we were under mass-surveillance from government or 3rd party organizations. In addition, mobile devices were vulnerable to manythreats at the moment. In late 2014, there is no such chat application making use of Steganography to conceal a secret message in a plain sight. The outcome application is a combination between secret algorithms in Steganography and a hard problem in Cryptography aiming to provide a user the most secure way to sharethe secret on a mobile platform. Thanks for the outstanding of Kivy Frameworks; the application works on both iOS and Android.
